Everything you need to know about our program, pods, pricing, and parent participation — explained simply and honestly.
The Homeschool Bunch is an intentional learning community for homeschooled children ages 8 to 12 based in South Los Angeles at @thenarrativela. We meet Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in small groups called pods. Each pod has no more than 10 children and is guided by a structured curriculum that covers academics, life skills, creativity, wellness, cooking, gardening, and community.
Think of it as a structured homeschool co-op where children learn together, parents are involved, and the experience is intentional from start to finish.
This program is designed for:
- Children ages 8 to 12 who are currently being homeschooled
- Families looking for a consistent, structured learning community
- Parents who want to be actively involved in their child's education
- Families who can commit to a full 8 week session
All sessions take place at @thenarrativela in South Los Angeles. The address is provided upon confirmed enrollment. We do not share our location publicly.
A pod is a small group of up to 10 children who learn together as a consistent community. Your child will be placed in either the AM Pod or the PM Pod based on your preference and availability.
The pod structure is intentional. Small groups mean your child gets more individual attention, stronger peer relationships, and a more focused learning environment than you would find in a larger classroom setting.
- AM Pod: 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM — Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
- PM Pod: 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM — Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
- Full Day: 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM — Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
Each pod has a maximum of 10 children. We have two pods per day — AM and PM — for a total of 20 spots per day. Once a pod is full enrollment closes for that session. We do not add extra children to a full pod.
Yes. Friday field trips are included in 3 day per week enrollment only. Families enrolled for 1 or 2 days per week do not attend Friday field trips.
Spring 2026 field trip destinations include:
- Urban Farm Walking Trip
- CAAM Museum
- California Science Center
- Urban Travel Day
Our curriculum covers eight core areas designed to develop the whole child — not just academics:
- Reading and Writing — building literacy, storytelling, and communication skills
- Arts and Creativity — visual art, expression, and creative problem solving
- Life Skills and Financial Literacy — real world skills including budgeting, planning, and independence
- Movement and Wellness — physical activity and mindfulness practices
- Gardening and Nature Education — urban gardening, plant care, and environmental awareness
- Cooking and No-Cook Meal Classes — food preparation, nutrition, and kitchen confidence
- Urban Exploration and Field Trips — learning beyond the room through community and cultural experiences
- Social and Community Skills — conflict resolution, collaboration, and civic engagement
The Homeschool Bunch is a social pod. That means parent participation is not optional — it is part of what makes the community work. Every family is expected to be engaged, responsive, and present.
For families who want to take their involvement further we offer the Parent Volunteer Program. Volunteer parents commit a minimum of 4 hours per week assisting with pod programming.
Volunteer parents spend 4 hours per week inside the pod assisting with programming. This could mean:
- Teaching or co-facilitating a subject you know well — cooking, art, music, gardening, financial literacy, a trade or skill
- Supporting the lead facilitator during sessions
- Helping with project setup, field trip coordination, or materials preparation
You do not need to be a trained educator. You need to show up consistently, be engaged with the children, and bring something real to the room.
We accept a maximum of 3 volunteer parents per pod. Spots are limited and filled on a first come first served basis at enrollment. If you are interested in volunteering indicate that on your enrollment form as early as possible.
Bring what you have. We have found that the most valuable parent volunteers are the ones who show up consistently and genuinely engage with the children — not necessarily the ones with formal education backgrounds.
Some examples of what parents have offered: cooking and meal prep, music and storytelling, small business and financial literacy, fitness and yoga, art and design, gardening, sewing and crafts, photography, and community organizing.
If you are unsure bring it to the open house and we will talk it through together.
We understand that life happens. Volunteer parents are asked to commit a minimum of twice a month for the 8 week session. That is at least 8 hours of participation total across the session.
We offer three enrollment tiers for the 8 week Spring 2026 session:
- 1 day per week — $700 total / $87.50 per day / Monday or Wednesday
- 2 days per week — $1,100 total / $68.75 per day / Monday and Wednesday — includes 20% discount
- 3 days per week — $1,500 total / $62.50 per day / Monday, Wednesday, and Friday including field trips — includes 30% discount

- 3 day tier: 30% off automatically included in pricing
- Open house registration: Additional 10% off when you enroll at our open house before April 1st
- Volunteer parents: $300 off tuition per session
- 2 siblings: 20% off total tuition
- 3 siblings: 30% off total tuition
Yes. We offer Shop Pay at checkout which splits your total tuition into 4 equal payments due every 2 weeks. There is no interest when paid on time.
We call it Homeschool Now. Pay Later.
Enrollment closes when spots fill. We have 10 spots per pod and 20 total spots per day. There is no set enrollment end date — when the spots are gone they are gone. The 20% early enrollment discount ends April 1st regardless of spot availability.
Yes. Families enrolling multiple siblings receive a special discount:
- 2 siblings: 20% off total tuition for both children
- 3 siblings: 30% off total tuition for all three children
Life happens and we understand that. However missed sessions are not refunded or made up. Your enrollment covers a seat in the pod for the full 8 week session. We encourage families to protect their commitment and communicate with us in advance when possible.
Once enrolled your tuition is non-refundable. We hold a spot in the pod specifically for your child and turning away another family to hold that spot is a real cost to our program.
If extraordinary circumstances arise please contact us directly at community@thehomeschoolbunch.com and we will work with you on a case by case basis.
We strongly encourage it. The open house is your chance to tour the space, ask questions, and make sure this is the right fit for your family before committing. It also gives us the chance to get to know your child and family before the session begins.
- Your child — we want to meet them
- Your questions — no question is too small
- Your enrollment decision — the 20% open house discount is applied when you enroll that day
